Genre: Romance
Series: SAGA #1
Synopsis:
Dani and Adam are both picking up the pieces. She is living at home in the Geneva Lake area of Wisconsin for the summer after a career failure, and he is seeking distance from Chicago after his divorce. Neither expected to have a summer romance, yet the cottage he rents becomes the catalyst, bringing them together and inciting what’s supposed to be a casual summer fling until they discover mutual connections, threatening their sexy whirlwind. The Renter does not end in a traditional happy ending for a romance novel. The happy ending comes in the series’ last book, The One.
Review:
I absolutely adore this series that chronicles Dani’s journey through her 20s as she discovers herself, but I’m practically on the edge of my seat waiting for the next books to drop—like, NOW! I devoured this book in no time, and the super short chapters made it impossible to put down; I just wanted to read into the night! Dani and Adam’s relationship was engaging for most of the story, but as I approached the last 30%, I couldn’t ignore the glaring red flags, and I really hope Adam isn’t “The One” for her. I love the idea that each book introduces a new love interest, leaving us to guess who Dani will ultimately choose. And let me be clear: if she doesn’t end up with Declan, I might just lose it! Although none of the books focus on Declan, I’ve already fallen for him based on the brief glimpses we got in Adam’s book; he feels like the perfect match for Dani. It’s astounding that nothing substantial occurred between them in this book, centering primarily on her relationship with Adam, yet a mere sentence with Declan was packed with more emotion than the entirety of Dani’s dynamic with Adam.
