Monstrous #1: Fantasy, Romance, and Greek Mythology Uncovered

Genre: Fantasy

Series: Monstrous #1

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Synopsis:

Monstrous claws weren’t the gift I’d expected for my eighteenth birthday, along with the desire to eat my ex-boyfriend. Yet those beastly traits are the reason I’m at Alystair University, a place of prestige where everyone is a monster like me. I should feel safe here, honing my abilities with my fierce girl gang by my side. But when decapitated bodies start appearing on campus, Nick Cervallos becomes the prime suspect. Despite the danger, I’m determined to prove his innocence, even if it means unleashing my monstrous side. I just don’t know what scares me more—facing a blood-thirsty monster or myself.

Review:

I’m totally hooked! This was such a slow-burn romance, but all the fun adventures and cool mysteries mixed in kept me super entertained. It was like an adult version of Percy Jackson, and I loved it just as much as I did when I was a kid! If you’re into Greek mythology, you’ll be all in on this story—there was so much that I had to pause just to Google the mythological monsters mentioned! The friendships Rhi made at Alystair University were awesome, especially the fierce group of girls who would do anything to have each other’s backs. What really kept me wanting more was the relationship between Nick and Rhi. I had a blast watching Nick go from the mysterious hot guy who’s her roommate’s brother to her friend and then something more. Honestly, that ending totally caught me off guard, and I can’t wait to see what happens next. Plus, I’m really hoping we find out more about Rhi’s biological parents in the next book!
