Enemies to Lovers: Magic and Betrayal in Coven of Bones #2

Genre: Fantasy

Series: Coven of Bones #2

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Synopsis:
He was the deception lurking in the night; the truth I never expected. After years of manipulation, I learned I was his puppet, oblivious to the strings. Despite his betrayal, I can’t deny the connection between Gray and me; a single glance ignites my soul. We’re enemies, fighting for what I once wished to destroy. With the Covenant gone, revenge has lost its allure. The witches remaining had no part in my aunt’s death, yet the man who keeps me in his bed stands in the way of rectifying my past. The Coven will never forgive me, and I can’t blame them; I was naive, blinded by delusions. Destiny had different plans for me, set in motion long before my birth. Now, it is my duty to undo those wrongs and protect my Coven from my husband’s hatred—at any cost.

Review:

I absolutely adored the first book in this duet and the undeniable chemistry that sparked between Gray and Willow. The second book cranked up the intensity of their connection, yet it didn’t quite deliver the same thrill that the first book’s plot offered. While there were certainly captivating moments throughout this installment, it felt a bit drawn out compared to the brisk pace of the original. Willow’s tumultuous feelings, where she seemed to loathe Gray for much of the story yet couldn’t resist the magnetic pull of their chemistry, made the ending feel somewhat rushed. Overall, the sizzling tension between the characters was fantastic, but if you’re yearning for a rich, intricate plot, the first book in the series reigns supreme.

Tropes:

  • Enemies to Lovers
