Genre : Romance
Series: Standalone
Synopsis:
My new boss—Alexander Bane, and boy, is he aptly named because he’s the bane of my existence! Fun clearly took a vacation the moment he got here. He grunts, growls, and demands like a disgruntled bear. If only he didn’t look like a walking ad for a romance novel when he’s being bossy! And don’t get me started on his kisses—so addictive I might just develop a sugar craving! He’s quickly becoming my favorite boss, which definitely feels like a plot twist in a romantic comedy gone wrong.
My new assistant is like an uninvited clown at a funeral—snarky, witty, and always grinning from ear to ear. She’s a master at putting me in my place, making me second-guess even my choice of coffee. It drives me up the wall. Unless, of course, I’m stealing a kiss from her. Suddenly, Magnolia Myers transforms into my absolute favorite person, which is super annoying! It’s like being in a sitcom where two people can’t stand each other… until they hilariously realize they actually get along. And trust me, HR has never had this much popcorn ready for a show!
ARC Review:
I was utterly captivated by this book! From the very first page, it was a whirlwind of entertainment, with not a dull chapter in sight — each one brimming with laughter and intrigue that made it impossible to pause. Before I knew it, I reached the end, left yearning for more. Alexander Bane initially came off as the most grumpy and irritable boss, yet beneath that facade lay a deeply caring and endearing man burdened by a troubled family. Magnolia Myers quickly became a favorite of mine, radiating a vibrant and funny personality while embodying the strength and independence of a formidable female lead. Even before her affection for Bane blossomed, she fiercely stood her ground against his antics, firing back with playful sass whenever he acted out as the insane boss. She evolved from being just his best assistant to becoming his anchor and everything he needed. Their relationship was absolutely delightful as it unfolded; I cherished their unique communication, devoid of the typical third-act turmoil that so often plagues romances. It was truly a charming and laugh-out-loud cozy romance that kept a smile on my face from start to finish. Interestingly, some of my favorite moments didn’t even revolve around the romance — although the sizzling chemistry was certainly undeniable! What I loved the most were the hilarious shenanigans! The part where HR walked in on those laugh-out-loud moments and how Myers totally blocked Bane’s mom from crashing into his office had me cracking up, and I enjoyed every single second of it!
