Series: Zodiac Academy #7
Review:
The 7th volume of the Zodiac Academy series, “Heartless Sky,” continues the gripping tale of the Heirs and the Vegas as they flee from the aftermath of the 6th book. Cast out from society and hunted by the madman who usurped their throne, they find themselves compelled to seek refuge and elude their pursuer. However, as they unearth more concealed truths and labor relentlessly to fulfill their potential and seize their rightful inheritance, the culmination of their journey draws near. There is no retreat from this path now. As time hurtles forward and the ominous destiny of the man Tory loves approaches, akin to the tyrant who seized their sovereignty, they must brace themselves for the ultimate confrontation. Yet three undeniable truths stand out. The die has been cast. Blood will be shed to pave the way for a new era. And even the stars themselves cannot offer salvation.
This book was shaping up to be the best in the series until it completely demolished me. It lures you in with light, airy comedy and romance, only to ruthlessly thrust you into the fiery depths of despair. The author’s skillful portrayal of the characters and their emotions is truly captivating, drawing you into their world with such force that it’s hard to emerge unscathed. The intricate plot twists and emotional rollercoaster ride make it an unforgettable experience, leaving a lasting impact on the reader. I need to take a break from the overwhelming emotional intensity of this series before I can dive into the next book.
Now here is the update on how I am feeling about the heirs and the other characters so far:
- Caleb – AGAIN! I LOVE CAL, He has always been one of my favorites and always will be. We saw more of his struggles in this book and him slowly accepting the fact that he might have feelings for his best friend. LOVE HIM AND ORION
- Darius – Didn’t think I could love Darius more than I already did but this book made everything he did in the past disappear. His devotion and love for Tory and his friends is as clear as day in this book. He also tore out my heart and left it bleeding in this book. When I think of Darius in this book I immediately think of the tears.
- Max – Out of all the heirs I think we see less of Max’s story but what we do see is adorable. His back and fourth with Grus brings a bit of comedy to a pretty heartbreaking series.
- Seth – STARTED OFF AS THE CHARACTER I TRULY HATED WITH A PASSION TO THE CHARACTER I LOVE SO FREAKIN MUCH!! Seth has become my favorite heir! He is hilarious in this book but we also get to see him struggle with his emotions. His friendship with Darcy is to die for and his one sided friendship with Lance is hysterical.
- Tory Vega – The PAIN! Can these authors ever give Tory a FREAKIN BREAK!! Out of all the Characters Tory and Darius have been through the freakin ringer and the authors decide to basically give her happiness during 80% of the book then the last 20% utterly destroy that happiness.
- Darcy Vega – My favorite twin sister, Darcy can really do no wrong. She is just always the voice of reason and fights for what she wants, unlike Tory who I still love but can be impulsive and hotheaded. Darcy and Lance’s relationship in this book is top tier, this book really took their connection up a notch. Again! can the authors not give a girl a break! Darcy was so happy and then utterly destroyed!
- Lance Orion – UGH, he is back in full force. Lance is the best of the best!! Always fighting to protect the vega twins and Darius. He struggle with being power shamed in this book is interesting to read, also funny at times. His new relationship with Darius after the bond breaks is so heartwarming. They are no longer bound to eachother but their friendship is forever. Him and Darcy, don’t get me started they just ignite FIRE!
- Geraldine Grus – PROTECT GRUS AT ALL TIMES!! She is utterly loyal to a fault and HILARIOUS!
I need to step back from the rollercoaster of emotions in this series before I can muster the courage to dive into the next book.
Favorite Quotes:
“You are meant for the sunlight, Lance Orion. So you’ll stand with me in it or else we’ll stay in the dark together,”
“I’m yours, Roxy,” he growled against my lips. “For every single second I have in this world, I’m all yours. And after that I’ll still be yours, wherever I end up after I’m gone, I’ll belong right here with you.”
“You snuggle with Darcy and Darius all the time. But where’s my snuggles, Lance? Where’s. My. Snuggles?”
“So you stole someone’s cupcakes on their birthday, and the only ones you left behind spell out the word ‘die’ right after another guy has been randomly found dead? You’re a fucking psycho.”
