Genre : Sports Romance
Series: Briar U
Synopsis:
College was supposed to be Taylor’s big chance to shake off her awkward phases and sprout some majestic wings, you know, like a beautiful butterfly emerging from a chrysalis. But oh no, instead she finds herself smack dab in the middle of a sorority chock-full of mean girls. Seriously, talk about a plot twist! With her existing struggles to fit in, it’s like the universe decides to add insult to injury when her Kappa Chi sisters throw down the gauntlet. The challenge? None other than to charm the pants off the hottest new hockey player in the junior class. And let’s be real, Conor Edwards is like a permanent fixture at Greek Row parties and, well, in the beds of Greek Row sorority houses. He’s the kind of guy you fall for, only to realize later that guys like him don’t even register girls like Taylor on their radar. But get this, instead of crushing her hopes and dreams, Mr. Popular actually agrees to accompany her upstairs and play along like they’re about to get busy. What a champ, right? And now he’s all about keeping up the pretense. It turns out Conor is a fan of games, especially ones that involve pulling the wool over her frenemies’ eyes. And let’s not forget, the dude’s got an irresistible charm and surfer-boy vibe that’s just plain impossible to resist. But guess what? Taylor’s starting to suspect there’s more to Conor than meets the eye, far beyond what his adoring fan club can see. As this ridiculous charade stretches on, the risk of it all blowing up in her face grows bigger and bigger. Oh, the joys of college life!
Review:
Elle Kennedy strikes again! This book was a rollercoaster of fun, and the sparks flying between Taylor and Conor were just as intense as a three-alarm fire. While it might not have been the laugh-out-loud funniest of the series, it definitely had its moments. It also dove into body positivity and mental health, giving us all the feels. Conor and Taylor are both navigating some serious stuff, and watching them fumble through it together was like watching a sitcom with the best kind of awkward humor. I loved that this wasn’t your typical “Dare” storyline where one person is clueless. It was refreshing to see them both in on the game, taking on the mean girls with their own antics. If you’re up for a quick, sizzling read with crackling chemistry, this book is a must!
