Genre : Sports Romance
Series: Briar U
Synopsis:
Everyone talks about Brenna like she’s some kind of troublemaker. And maybe she is, in a way. She’s not about to let fear control her, and she couldn’t care less about what anyone thinks. But she’s not about to cross that line and get involved with the enemy. It’s not an option for her. As the daughter of Briar’s head hockey coach, she’d be crucified if she got involved with someone from a rival team, especially Jake Connelly, the star forward from Harvard. He’s so full of himself, so frustrating, and way too good-looking. But fate seems to have its own cruel sense of humor—she needs his help to land an important internship, and he’s not making it easy for her. She has no choice but to ask Connelly to pretend to be her boyfriend. But for every fake date he agrees to, he wants a real one. And that’s trouble. Nothing good can come from sneaking around with Jake Connelly. Her father would be furious, her friends would turn their backs on her, and her future career would be at risk. As much as she struggles to resist Jake’s irresistible charm and cocky smile, she won’t let herself fall for him. That’s one risk she refuses to take.
Review:
I absolutely had a blast reading this! The dynamic between Jake and Brenna was like a reverse grumpy sunshine situation – Brenna, the stubborn and strong-willed female character, constantly at odds with Jake, the hardworking and determined hockey player who always manages to have a great time. He never fails to make Brenna smile, even when she doesn’t want to, and their banter was absolutely top tier. The fact that she is the Hockey Coach’s daughter and Jake is the star player on the rival hockey team made for some seriously entertaining reading, and I couldn’t wipe the grin off my face!
