The Play: Hunter and Demi’s Humorous Friends-to-Lovers Hockey Romance

Genre : Sports Romance

Series: Briar U

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Synopsis:

Hunter Davenport thought he had single-handedly ruined the hockey team’s season with his antics last year. Determined not to mess up again, he decided to put an end to his romantic escapades and focus solely on hockey and school. Now sporting a “celibate” badge, he found himself in the unexpected role of the friendly guy who, for some reason, was only interested in being pals with the opposite sex. Enter Demi Davis, Hunter’s witty and attractive classmate. Despite her taken status, she suddenly becomes available and sets her sights on Hunter as her rebound. As luck would have it, they end up as project partners for the entire year. Hunter is convinced he can fend off Demi’s advances, but let’s face it, resisting her is like trying to win a staring contest with a puppy – an impossible feat!

Review:

I don’t typically dig the whole friends-to-lovers thing, but this one really nailed it! Elle Kennedy brought some serious humor to the table, and the banter between Hunter and Demi, even when they were just friends, had me in stitches. Watching Demi and Hunter transform from pals to completely smitten with each other was a riot. And Demi intentionally trying to sabotage Hunter’s ridiculous celibacy vow? Priceless. Let’s face it, we all knew Hunter didn’t stand a chance against Demi. This quick-witted hockey romance was an absolute blast to read!
