Review:
**********SPOILER ALERT************
Synopsis of “Shadow Princess” by Caroline Peckham
“Shadow Princess” by Caroline Peckham is the fourth book in the Zodiac Academy series, a fantasy narrative woven with intense emotions, complex relationships, and profound character evolution. The compelling storyline intertwines love, sacrifice, and unyielding determination, captivating readers with its richly woven tapestry of emotions, mysteries, and unforeseen twists.
The story picks up where the previous book ended, the Vega twins have finally figured out what their order is but now they are cursed with these shadows and have to learn how to control them or else the shadows will devour them whole. Lance, Tory, Darcy and Darius have to work together to learn how to wield the shadows and not be overcome by them, while keeping it a secret from everyone else.
Again, this book was amazing but way more heartbreaking then the previous ones. We are finally getting to the land of the authors trying to tear our hearts apart.
Now here is the update on how I am feeling about the heirs and the other characters so far:
- Caleb – Still love him and he just keeps getting better. His relationship with Tory is not only steamy its hilarious as well but eventually fizzles out. It kind of annoys me how he keeps going after Tory when he can clearly see that Darius has feelings for her.
- Darius – Officially love Darius!! We can finally see all the trauma he has been through because of his father and he still tries to fight back. He completely gives into his feelings for Tory, but since she is a tough person to crack he resorts to being a jerk again just so she can’t ignore him anymore.
- Max – My opinion of Max hasn’t really changed that much, I don’t hate him as much as I use to but that’s only cause is obsession with Geraldine Grus is hilarious
- Seth – If possible, I hate Seth even more than I did in the previous book.
- Tory Vega – I love the twins, but Tory utterly pissed me off in this book! She is legit throwing a pity party every chapter and treating Darius like what happened to her is all his fault, when he actually tried to save her. She also holds so much anger towards Darius and blames him for everything, when she also has some responsibility in how their relationship is unfolding because she constantly wants to deny her feelings for him.
- Darcy Vega – I will stand on this hill, Darcy is the superior twin!! I have loved her character from the very beginning and I don’t see my opinion of her changing.
- Lance Orion – He just keeps getting better and better, like how much higher does he want to climb in the book boyfriend list.
- Geraldine Grus – No one can make me hate this girl. She is the biggest supporter of the Vega Twins and the funniest character in the whole series.
The series has completely captivated me through four amazing books, but hold up – the ending of this latest installment has left me reeling! And Tory, oh Tory, what in the world is going on with her? It’s like she’s making a conscious effort to be the most exasperating character ever. Seriously, stop blaming everyone else and face your own issues! The next book better come in and tie up all these loose ends, or I’ll be an emotional wreck, I swear.
Favorite Quotes:
“Because you’re in my head all the time. You pulse through my blood with each beat of my heart. I live for every scrap of attention you offer me and suffer through every moment you spend ignoring me,” he said darkly, holding my eye the entire time.”
“The next time you want to drown in them, tell me about it.” “Why?” “Because if you’re going to drown then I’m going to drown with you.”
“Good. Because I’m not a better man,” he said in a low growl, his eyes full of shadows. “I’m the devil and I want you. I want you like I’ve never wanted anything or anyone. And I will fight to make you mine, no matter what it takes. No force in Solaria will rip us apart.”
